Mary didn’t kick against the goads when God told her the impossible, and she was blessed! We can learn so much from her about believing when God tells us the unbelievable. I learned this lesson recently after an extremely frustrating day taking things into my own hands and kicking against the goads. Curious yet what goads are?Read More

As Jesus and our Samaritan sister continue to chat, she still only sees the physical: her physical need for water, what is required in the physical to draw it and the fact Jesus does not have it! What He is saying that He is not saying is the well she’s drawing from is a well tradition and heritage, even religion. But even as deep as it is, it is not the source of living water. He is shaking things up and challenging all she has ever known, and she does not understand.Read More
In being exact, Jesus knows exactly the conversation that will engage us as He reveals Himself to us. His exchange with the Samaritan woman at the well continues as her question back to His request for a drink betrays her feelings about His unconventional ways. She asks “How me?” She can’t believe Jesus would be asking her, a Samaritan, for a drink! Is this sometimes how we think? We cannot imagine how it is possible that Jesus would seek us out, come to us, personally engage us in conversation and give us exactly what we need? That’s when Jesus reveals the questions she and we should really be asking.Read More
When Jesus travels from Judea to Galilee, Samaria is not just the quickest, most direct route; it is also the route that will put Him at an exact place at an exact time to encounter the woman at the well. And it is a place of deep-seated historical, racial and religious tension. Yet Jesus chooses to go there. He ventures into controversial, unclean and undesirable territory to meet this one woman. Jesus will do the same thing for us!Read More
Do you, like me, find yourself at least sometimes seeking temporary happiness from things that bring no lasting satisfaction? Jesus is the only one who can satisfy our soul needs for salvation, assurance, peace, security, significance, purpose, perfect love, perfect acceptance, perfect dependability, perfect trustworthiness, eternal presence, deep, abiding joy, unshakable hope, steady mercy, steady grace, knowledge, wisdom, understanding, discernment and so on. But don’t we all find ourselves attempting to draw from the wells of the world to quench spiritual thirst? And when we do, the thirst remains or returns? Come with me as we visit Jacob’s well with Jesus and the Samaritan woman and discover that Jesus will meet us at our exact place of need to reveal Himself as exactly what we need.Read More
I’ve spent much of my lifetime chasing the good life, however my desires defined it. I’ve sinned to get it. Even after knowing Jesus. And then the Lord opened my eyes to the God life, and He is showing me that the God life IS the good life!Read More
When it hits me just how great it was to have my mom alive in this world, and my heart longs to have her here still, it is still hard. Thirteen years later and it is still hard. It hurts. Yet in life and loss, when it hurt and it’s hard, God is our ever-present help in times of trouble. He never leaves or forsakes us, and in these times, He is undeniably real! And knowing it’s not goodbye forever makes goodbye for now so much better! Have you lost a loved one? Are you facing the loss of someone you can’t imagine life without? It’s hard! But God offers much hope and comfort.Read More

What in the world does it mean to live victoriously? Can we really live a set-apart life in which we experience God’s supernatural and miraculous faithfulness, deliverance, provision and protection? Why wouldn’t we live by these truths?Read More
When we get caught in the snare of idolatry and find ourselves oppressed by the enemy, God will not leave us in bondage forever! When we cry out, He hears us and He delivers us. And sometimes, God sovereignly sets up battles for our deliverance! When He does, we can know this: our God sovereignly delivers us to certain victory through our obedience!Read More
Is there something you habitually turn to for satisfaction, comfort and/or distraction instead of turning to Jesus? A heart desire that rules your thoughts, words and behavior? What is that thing for you? What exactly does bring satisfaction to our souls? As we say in Texas, “Ain’t nothin’ from around these here parts!” It comes from above.Read More
Are you elated to put 2016 behind you convinced 2017 has to be better simply because things can’t get much worse? That was 2011 for me, so when this post showed up as a memory in my Facebook feed this morning, I relived not just the disappointments of 2011, but the faithfulness of God. Seeing the reality of His word lived out in the pages of my testimony encouraged me today as He reminded me of the irrevokable truths He taught me that year. I felt as though the proverbial other shoe kept dropping and dropping when the Lord showed me it was His loving, sovereign hand. I am reposting this today with links to the other two blogs in this series in hopes that it is an encouragement to you this New Year. And my prayer for every one of this is this: “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope” (Romans 15:13).Read More
