Meaty Minute: A 60-Second Serving of God’s Word to Transform Your Day

Introducing The Meaty Minute! I really wanted to call it The Monday Minute, but that’s already taken by a gadjillion different people. Anyways, Mondays are rough in my world as the weekend ends and I face the reality of another week of deadlines and responsibilities. They are crazy busy! Maybe they are for you, too. In just 60 seconds, The Meaty Minute presents a powerful truth from the word of God that I pray will transform our Monday or any day. God’s word is the bread of life – we need solid food to grow in our relationship with Jesus (see Hebrews 5:12-14). We need meat! So here you go, the very first The Meaty Minute. Start the timer now.Today’s topic is kingdom. When Jesus taught His disciples to pray, He responded with what we know as “The Lord’s Prayer.” In it, Jesus prayed, “Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:10, NKJV).We can repeat these words, but what do they mean? The word kingdom in Greek is basileia. I immediately think territory, and it is, but it is also one’s right or authority to rule over a kingdom, as in the “royal power of Jesus as the triumphant Messiah,” His reign as Messiah and “the royal power and dignity conferred on Christians in the Messiah's kingdom.”Here’s how understanding kingdom is changing how I pray.In heaven, Jesus has full reign and authority. There’s no sin, sickness, rebellion, disobedience, suffering, sadness, tears, etc. What Jesus says, goes. Everything is subject to Him! When His kingdom comes on earth as it is in heaven, those things don’t exist here on earth either! To pray “Your kingdom come” is to say, “Jesus, have full rule and authority here on earth as You do in heaven! In my relationship with You, my heart, thoughts, emotions, decisions, marriage, relationship with my kids, business, health, desires and pursuits; my husband, kids, church, community and friends; over sickness and disease, politics, financial markets and wherever else Jesus needs to rule for it to be right! And guess what? His rule and reign bring about His will!To pray "Thy will be done" is to ask Jesus to have full reign and authority in and around us on earth as He rules and reigns in heaven! Is there a part of you or your life that needs the rule and reign of Jesus on earth as it is in heaven? Pray “Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven!”When we pray scripture, we are praying God’s will, and God will answer. He guarantees it (see 1 John 5:14)!I pray this Meaty Minute changes your day and maybe even your week and beyond. The Lord bless and keep you and make His face to shine upon you!Shauna Wallace
