I am thrilled to share with you my new website! A huge thanks to Launch Tower for believing so strongly in my writing that you took on my site and to Madeleine Bonin for the amazing photography! I could not be more pleased with your work!

Today’s post is simply the story I share on the “about me” page of my website. It is from my heart, and it is the reason I write.

It all started with a desperate cry and the answer of a faithful God.

The day of the 2008 presidential election, I found myself face first on my closet floor crying out to God for His mercy on our nation. He answered, not with the outcome I wanted, but with a truth that launched me into ministry as an author, speaker, and blogger: the only hope we have is Jesus, and obedience to His word, for as we become wholly His, we will become holy His, a standard He requires. Is He crazy? That’s not possible! And then He showed me: as we yield ourselves entirely to Him, and He works in and through us, He makes it happen. He will change us, our families, our communities, and our nation. The fullness of our life in Christ will then be a powerful platform from which the gospel of salvation is preached.

For months, I simply wrote down all God was revealing in His word about what happens when we do what He says – our part, His part, and ultimately, how He makes possible that which He requires. Then God gave me the outline for what is now a published book – Holy His: Hope for a Life and a Nation Wholly His. For four years, He pressed me toward the finish line, a milestone that was another beginning, rather than an end. My blog, Becoming Wholly His, is the continuation of what God started with my book; the next step of obedience.

I am motivated by a passionate desire for people to know what it’s like to experience God’s faithfulness, even in the most desperate circumstances and darkest hours. Without Him, we’re doomed. Literally. And too many people are living doomed lives when there’s another way: His. If one person finds their way to Him, or if the only people who read what I post are my children, then it’s worth every sleepy-eyed, coffee-infused morning I get up to dig into God’s word!

God’s truth is deep, but ultimately simple. The problem is we complicate it because we don’t want to do what is required to do what He’s asking us to do. We miss out because we’re scared to take a step of faith. I know because that was me.

God’s way seems hard, but it is always the easier way. Being holy His is a result of becoming wholly His. That’s what I want for myself and my family. It’s what I want for you.

A little about me

I am a working, stay-at-home mom with four kids. My favorite things in life are Jesus, my husband, James, and being a mom (in that order)! Since 2004, I have directed the private education of our kids at home (in other words, I home school with lots of help from outside classes and co-ops). With a son on his own and a daughter in college, I am learning my ever-changing role as Mom will always be of utmost need and priority. When I’m not mothering, writing, or helping James with our custom home building business, I enjoy hanging out with family, cooking, eating, exercising, reading, riding horses, and traveling. We are loud, crazy, completely in love with Jesus and each other, and enjoy living in happy, orderly chaos. We are active in church, and as a founding family of the Christian Service League, we come alongside ministries in our community as a way to share the love of Jesus with those who are hurting or in need.

Even with my best foot forward, I am transparently imperfect, completely dependent on the saving grace of Jesus Christ, and totally hopeless without Him.

As far as where I come from and the mighty way God has redeemed me, my marriage, and our family, the following posts tell our story, which is really a story of God’s goodness and the power of His word:

I have no idea what God is up to or what is next, but I have experienced His faithfulness time and again. His word is true, and when Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths,” we can believe He will.

His path has led me to become an author, speaker and blogger. I have done nothing more than respond to Him in obedience as He has shown me each next step He wanted me to take. The only plans I have are to continue to do the same as I seek to become more wholly His each day.
